Look who came to visit!!!

At the start of March My nephew Nick came to visit. He has the bluest eyes EVER. My sister forbids retouching them. They are SOOC (except for a little sharpening).

One thing about Nick, he's a climber. It's amazing really. There is a stool below him that got cropped out but still, the kid stood on the cabinet knobs to reach the sink so he could play in the water. I took pictures, his mom made him get down....I win.
Is my nephew not the cutest thing EVER!
Oh yeah, Abi & Claire came too. ;)

Hubby blogger?

I am thinking of starting a new genre of blogging: the Hubby blogger.
Forget you, mommy bloggers, my Husband does way cooler (and often more entertaining) things than your kids ever will!

Look at this cabinet he refinished (sad, there is no picture with the drawers he built)

And the Compost bin he built us

and the chicken coop he is tearing down...With his bare hands (well, he was wearing gloves, and he did hit things with a sledgehammer a few times...)

and the Boat he's building.

and the counter he made for our bathroom.

Plus he's downright handsome in a fire hat don't you agree
I love him so much, he might not feel the same after he sees that firehat picture on the internet though.... :)

Help Wanted

I did some gardening last week when the sun was out and it was warm. (unlike today when it snowed) Of course in March and with my level of skill (which is low) all I did really was pull things up: last years weeds and dead leaves and a few more feet of the sod that had grown over the stone path. (The path goes the whole way to the front porch after all and much further down the hill than I thought.) Keith gave me a crash course in what is and isn't Digitalis, so I hope I managed to leave all of those.

I was feeling bad that everything was dead but look what I found under last year's dead weeds!!

Here's the part where I need help. See these 3 plants? They make a number of appearances in the flower bed. I need to know if they should be pulled up or tended to.
The one on the left looks familiar to me, not sure if that means it's a flower or that it's poisonous. On the bottom right we have a plant that is not Digitalis but has spread and is now a sort of ground cover all along the back half of the bed. What i need to know is if it was on purpose or not. The top right is just a bad picture :/ the leaves look kind of like roses meet shamrocks. will they turn into flowers or just be weeds? So many questions!

Also, if anyone knows anything about grapevines, we have a mess here and all I know is they should probably not be allowed to continue climbing the pine tree or encroaching further onto the yard.

February

So, have you noticed that my monthly wrap-up posts get later and later into the next month?

February was a snowy but really beautiful month. I took a ton of sunset photos. Compulsively. For about a week I kept running outside with my camera instead of finishing making dinner. I plan to post a bunch of them someday but here's a taste. This was taken out the kitchen window.
I finished my scarf in time for spring and did actually start my hat, but no real hat photos yet. Maybe a WIP post will come later in March. Look how good the scarf looks with both my winter coats. (these colors are way off :/ that is my new favorite emoticon) I have not crocheted any snowflakes yet.
I fell in love with this Primrose on one of the trips to Home Depot. It was less than a dollar and I really needed some sunshine in my life. February is a month without enough sunshine. I haven't killed it yet.

Micah started building his second boat. The clothespins (and frequent affirmation) are the entirety of my contribution. The boat deserves it's own post but I'm waiting until it is all together. I think there are only a few strips left to go before he can start fiberglassing. I'll post pictures once it doesn't have a hole in the bottom any more. It's going to be stunning.

There was something beautiful to me about the light and shadows and reflections. I just wanted to share it with you. (Micah made the concrete counter-top back in the fall, it has bits of ale-8 bottles broken up in it. This isn't the best picture of it.)

I don't have any deep thoughts to sum up February. I am still wondering how something that felt like it was dragging on forever could disappear so quickly.
